Spatial Analysis with QGIS, GRASS 7 and R Course

Introduction

This course focuses on the concepts and procedures used in discovering and applying relationships within and among maps. It extends the mapping and geo-query capabilities of GIS technology to map analysis and construction of spatial models. This course is designed for participants to develop their skills using the Free Open Source Software (FOSS).   The course will focus on developing hands-on skills through individual computer-based practical sessions.

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand the importance of GIS as a decision-making tool
  2. Working with geometry and non-geometry data
  3. Techniques to produce map layouts

Course objectives

  1. Enable the participant to gain GIS practical skills for decision making
  2. Enable the participant to be familiar with QGIS functionality
  3. To equip the participant with simple techniques to enable them to build, manage, and analyze spatial and non-spatial data
  4. to equip the participants with skills on how to produce map layouts

Target group
